Something Corny

My wife is auctioning off some mutant corn. It was not grown in Perry, so I don't think the nuke plant caused it. Although the wind does go towards Geneve....hmmm. I can't believe someone bid on it. Maybe if I can convince it looks like Jesus, we'll get some money out of it.

The Bad News Browns

At least they kept me watching the whole game. I mean they had the lead the majority of the game.

Anyway, the rest of my weekend was very good except the battery on my car completely dying. I'm to the point on this particular car where I really don't want to put a whole lot of money into it. But I am really embarrassed driving it around right now. My bumper is half off and my muffler has a hole in it, but it gets me where I need to go, so that's good, right? Don't make fun of me. I guess I should spend some money so I'm not so embarrassed. I hate cars a lot.

Wild

We had a pretty good weekend. Saturday was our 2nd annual family reunion (paternal) at the Metroparks off Reeves Rd. in Willoughby. That evening was the reception for Scott & Melissa at La Vera party center. I was surprised on how nice the party center was. I had never been there before, so I didn't know what to expect. My only complaint was there were too many mirrors. I know, it is supposed to open up the room, but it's tough taking pictures when the wall is covered with mirrors. So, anyway we had fun and danced a lot, and I thought the food was good except for the eggplant, which I normally like. Surprisingly I had zero hangover and that was good because there was much yard work to be done.

I have been trying for a week and a half to get my grass back to where it should be after not cutting the back yard for about a month or so. We found yet another snake in the front yard before we started, so we captured it and held it in a net until we were done. After cutting the front we started working on the back. It wasn't long after we started on the back that I noticed something flying around. I knew it was a mantis as soon as I saw it, so I stopped the engine and went over to get it as soon as it landed. Not that I have contact with mantids very often, but this one was the most active one I've ever seen. It crawled really fast and flew away from us often. Luckily for us, friend Matt gave the boy a bug observatory (plastic bucket with a lid %) for his 4th birthday, and we used that to hold on to the bugger until we were done cutting.

We let him (I think it was a him) go into the over grown vegetable garden a few hours later. Cool, huh?

Status

There really isn't much to report. I'm very excited about the boy going to school. He was trying to explain to me how a rainbow was formed Wednesday night when we saw a really cool one. I pretty sure his science teacher (they have different teachers for some subjects) showed them a prism with a light through it. He mentioned something about glass. Anyway, every day when he comes home I ask him what he learned, he usually says what kids got in trouble. I asked him why he didn't tell me about that and he said he forgot! Damnit!

...Which brings me to VH1 Classic. I've been watching the channel more and more lately at night when I'm on the computer. Hey, they actually play music! Well...a lot of the time they do. Anyway they had the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock on. I was pleasantly surprised to see my all time favorite Soundgarden at #14. They were right between Pink Floyd (15) and Queen (13). I guess there isn't much reason to mention them other than it's really cool for me to see them getting the recognition I always thought they deserved. That's it for me today, people. Have a good weekend.

Pluto!

I have to admit I wasn't excited about the planet rule changes that happened recently. I just hate it when things change. This wasn't any exception. I mean it's not like the damn thing disappeared, so who cares? Anyway, I thought this was really funny...

Hahaha! "Size Doesn't Matter." WTF?!
