Katydid, Muppets, Drago-Lantern

Katydid what!?
(That was kinda lame...too bad, losers!)

First things first...

Here's the Katydid the boy and I found Saturday while cleaning up the yard. I thought it was alive in this picture. Apparently it was dead or was (and still is) very dormant. We still have it in his bug carrier. After I took this picture I went to pick it up and it fell over on it's side.

Costume Party!

Saturday night was a lot of fun...and I didn't even drink (Ok, one)! I was a good little DD. I danced and got ALOT of attention, but it wasn't because of my swaggering(sp?) good looks. In fact, nobody could even see my face. Ohhhh, that might explain things. Anyway, me and gal-pal H-dawg dressed up together for the costume party. She made these costumes 4 to 5 years ago for her and Mark. They did an awesome job with these. She kept telling from the start that we were going to win first prize. I had doubts. Not because of the costumes (They were awesome!) but because nothing like that EVER happens to me! I'm not usually very lucky. Things changed that night, and when it was down to Dorothy, Scarecrow, Ugly-security Guard, and us, the judges announced.....

...we were the winners! We won a $25 tab at the bar, a Browns jacket, and a 1/10 chance for a trip to Las Vegas! If we don't get the Vegas trip, we still get something else. The wife was extra happy (By happy I mean happy with sarcastic overtones) that I may win a Vegas trip with another woman. Haha. It's not like we'll actually be going, but it would be cool to win.

It was weird to me having complete strangers come up and start talking to you. I don't think I'm the most approachable person (mostly by design), so it was a definitely a change being the center of attention. I'm sure H and I are in a lot of people's pictures. There was also a neat little Daisy that was hangin' out with us too that probably snuck into some pictures ;-)

Drago-Lantern

After coming home from an always awesome dinner at Mary's house tonight (Thanks again!) I carved up a pumpkin. Here's my carving for this year. I was originally was going to do Yoda, but I never found a good design, and didn't want to waste time attempting to make one in photoshop. The boy picked out this design. Pretty good pick. I think i coulda done a little better on the tail if I used a razor, good enough for me though. Alright, time for bed. I need to try to make up for a bad night of sleep last night.

Happy Halloween!!!

STP Of My Dreams & The Chocolate Ninja

So, I had the weirdest dream last night. I was part of Stone Temple Pilots, and we were performing in a large arena of some sort. We were performing from one of the loges, and apparently they let me join the band despite not know how to play guitar. I remember singing backup vocals while fumbling with the instrument. Not to worry though, because during our intermission Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) gladly showed me how to play guitar. Sweet! I did get pissed at Scott Weiland though for making fun of the way Eddie Vedder sings "Black". Not sure what that was all about. There were lots of woman flashing us when we were performing. And I mean flashing-flashing. Their tops were on, and that's about it! WTF?!... so that was weird.

In other news, we visited Jenn at her Oliver Twist job. It was a very nice place. The crowd there was a little uppity, and it's probably a little too pricey for me to go back soon, but it that's cool. I was glad the wife was able to come out with us for a while, she needs to blow off some steam too. While we were their Brett and Shirring were talking about a chocolate handjob, and how that came up, I never really found out. Well, we got a good laugh about it when I asked what a Chocolate Ninja did. Another thing I learned that evening, is what it really means when women wear hoop earrings that are bigger than a quarter. I'm much too embarrassed to say. Let's just say my wife won't be wearing hoops anytime soon. A little later we went to BW3 and had some wings. Tim made a good suggestion with that one. It was nice going somewhere where it wasn't too busy and we could move around. All in all it was a great evening.

P.S. Someone on AOL already has the screenname "ChocolateNinja". I added it to my buddy list to see if someone actually logs in under that name...hehehe.

Northern Flicker & Saturday

Yesterday Mary mentioned she saw a northern flicker in her yard this past weekend and showed me a few pictures of them on the internet. As soon as I saw them I realized I had these in my yard, on my peach tree, over 2 years ago. I took the pictures of them, but never tried to identify and I kind of forgot about them. So here is the happy couple (I'm assuming)...

This wasn't taken with a very good camera, but you get the idea. Pretty cool.

Here's a close up of the northern flicker. Not my picture.

So, Saturday I had a blast going out with my friends. It made me feel really bad about my previous post where I complained. It's been the first time I was out for about a year or so. Although my wife wasn't happy with me the next day because of a misunderstanding with cell phones, it was great. I'm glad Chris, Jenn & Terri were able to make it too. They all seemed like they had a good time.
